An illegal abattoir in the Galkiriyagama area in Kekirawa, has been raided by officers attached to the Special Task Force early this morning.The STF stated that ten individuals were arrested on suspicion following the raid.
The carcasses of seven buffaloes and 1200 kilogrammes of meat have been discovered at the location.
In addition, our correspondent noted that several other buffaloes that were being prepared for slaughter were rescued.
The police have also seized three lorries and a generator.
The suspects and the equipment have been handed over to the Galkiriyagama Police for further investigations.
