A petition requesting a standardised mechanism to be formulated for pricing milk powder was filed in the Supreme Court yesterday.
The petition filed by Sugathapala de Mendis requests a standardised mechanism to be used when revising milk powder prices including the price of infant formula.
Attorney-at-Law Upul Jayasuriya represented the petitioner.
The Supreme Court which considered the petition, decided to take up the case on the 29th of this month when it will decide whether to grant leave to proceed.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court ordered Milk Powder Importing Companies and the Consumer Affairs Authority to be present in court on the 29th of this month.
