The All Island Poultry Farmers' Association says that they are facing severe hardships due to the decrease in the price of eggs.
Chairman of the Association, D.D. Wanasinghe said that egg production has increased rapidly in recent times.
He said that as a result the price of eggs had declined sharply.
Secretary to the Ministry of Internal Trade and Cooperatives, Sunil S. Sirisena said that the government
cannot directly intervene to increase the price of eggs.
He added that it is normal for prices to reduce relatively, when there is an increase in supply.
