Leadership programme for students accepted to universities

The leadership training programme for the new students who have been accepted to universities this year will commence on the 20th of this month.
The Ministry of Higher Education stated that the leadership training programme will be conducted at twenty eight  training centres over a period of three weeks.

Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne stated that the leadership training programme will be held in the Army, Navy, Airforce, Police and Cadet Corps camps.

The leadership training programme for new university students commenced last year on a trial basis and it has proved to be a success.

Dr. Navaratne added that even though there were many complaints, criticism and pressure with regard to the leadership training programme they were able to successfully complete it according to the schedule.

He stated that steps have been taken to carry out this year‘s leadership training programme in a more streamlined manner by eliminating the shortcomings faced last year and based on feedback.

Around ten thousand students out of the twenty two thousand who have been accepted to universities this year will participate in the first  phase of the leadership training programme that is to commence on the 20th  of this month.
