Abandoned child handed over to the police

Although children are an asset to their parents, some parents consider them a burden.

A child, believed to be a year old and belonging to a beggar community, has been handed over to the police by the residents of the area.

It is learnt that the infant was found in the area. Police stated that the child is presently receiving treatment at the
Kalutara Hospital.

The infant is to be presented before court where the next steps regarding ithe child’s future will be decided.
