According to the Department of Examinations a total of 3908 students have obtained 9 ''A'' at the 2011 G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination.
However 12,795 students had failed all nine subjects at the examination. 60.8 percent of students have qualified for Advanced Level.
Udeshika Madushani Hettiarachchi of the Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo was the first placed student while Anusha Milroy Perera of Science College Matale was placed second.
The third place is a tie between two colleges, Bharatha Madushanka of Dharmaraja College Kandy
and Dilmi Samadika of the Pinnawala Central College, Rambukkana.
