Six Lankan fishermen taken into Indian custody


Another six Sri Lankan fishermen who breached the Indian maritime border have been taken into custody.

These fishermen are those who went out to sea on August 4.

According to the Fisheries Ministry, the Natasha Duwa fishing craft they were travelling in, has been taken into custody by the Indian coast guards.

Accordingly, the number of Sri Lankan fishermen under Indian custody stands at 32 while the number of boats in their custody stands at seven

The Fisheries Ministry states that discussions have already commenced to release these fishermen.

The Ministry adds that twenty six Sri Lankan fishermen under the custody of the Tamil Nadu authorities will be released with in the next two weeks.
