The police have commenced broad investigations into the incident in which a prisoner at the WelikadaPrison had committed suicide.
Police said that the deceased is a prisoner sentenced to seventeen years of imprisonment due to his involvement in various crimes.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of the Dematagoda area.
The Police Media Spokesperson's office has said that statements have been obtained from prison officials with regard to this incident.
