Salary increase likely for housemaids serving in the Middle East


Attention of the Foreign Employment Bureau has been drawn towards increasing the salaries of Sri Lankan housemaids serving in the Middle East.
Chairman of the Bureau Amal Senadhilankara stated that discussions are currently underway with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait regarding the matter.

At present a Sri Lankan housemaid serving in Kuwait is paid around 60 to 65 dinars and it is expected to increase it up to 85 Dinars.

The Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau further stated that a discussion will be held in Jordan next month to discuss the matter with diplomats in the Middle East.
