Bharatha Killing - CI not to be found when inquiry was held


The Magisterial Inquiry into the killing of four people including former parliamentarian Barath Lakshman
Premachandra was taken up before Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis this morning.
On the last day of the inquiry the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was notified to inform court as to the whereabouts of parliamentarian Duminda Silva who has been named as a suspect.

Athough the only representative of the CID present in court today was Chief Inspector Meril Ranjith he was not to be found when the inquiry was being held.

As a result of this situation, the Additional Magistrate postponed the inquiry to the 17th of this month.

Meril Ranjith who was in another location said that he had left the Court as he was informed that the
inquiry would be taken up later in the day.

The Magistrate had said that the inquiry cannot be taken up again today and postponed the inquiry for the 17th .

He notified the CID to be present on that day.
