The Ministry of Higher Education has commenced a programme to provide housing loans with a minimum interest rate to university lecturers and non-academic staff.Secretary to the Ministry, Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne stated that the necessary steps have been taken to provide these loan through state banks.
The loans will carry a modest interest rate of 7%.
Under this programme, university lecturers can obtain housing loans up to two million rupees and non
academic staff can obtain loans up to one million rupees Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne stated that the ministry of finance and planning has approved this programme.
