Legal action against shops for violating the Cosmetic Devices Act


The Cosmetic Devices and Drugs Regulatory Authority says that legal action has been initiated against
several shops in Anuradhapura that violated the Cosmetic Devices and Drugs Act.
Director General of the Authority, Dr. Hemantha Beneragama said that drugs worth over two million
rupees that had been stored in a hazardous manner have been seized from unregistered pharmacies.

He added that the raids were carried out following a tip-off that medicine that was meant for the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital was being sold outside.

Dr. Hemantha Beneragama said that all pharmacies in the Anuradhapura District will be searched in this regard.
